Amanda Johnson (born January 10, 1985 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) is a young Christian Contemporary music artist. She has always had a heart for music; to write her own music, and also to lead people in worship.
Amanda is the middle child, with two older sisters and two younger brothers; her parents Henry & Carolyn Van Ee are very supportive and have always encouraged Amanda to reach for her dreams.
Amanda grew up in Saskatoon and attended the Saskatoon Christian School. After graduating from high school, Amanda attended the School of Worship in Denver Colorado in 2004 – which led her to pursue her first album entitled “Trust,” and fostered her desire to lead worship in a corporate setting. “Trust” was released in September 2006 in Denver, Colorado. Each of the eleven tracks carries an underlying theme of a response to God’s call on her life to trust Him alone. The radio friendly ‘Come to Me’ single received a great deal of air-time in the U.S. and Canada. Each song resonates the title of this album through personal experiences. With the album ‘Trust’, Amanda Johnson toured the U.S., Canada, Europe, and South Africa.
In June 2010 Amanda married Myron Johnson and they continue to follow this dream of writing music, and leading worship!
Recently Amanda Johnson released her debut album titled ‘Live to Love…Love to Live’. This second album has somewhat of a different feel than the ‘Trust’ album, which was something that Amanda and the band were hoping to achieve. “My hope is that this album brings people to a better understanding of who God is, and that He is love,” Amanda says, “These songs were written at different times in the last year and each have a specific story behind them. I hope people can stop and listen, and allow God to speak to them in this album.”
The band members in the debut album are Amanda Johnson (vocals, acoustic guitar, piano, harmonies), Myron Johnson (bass, acoustic guitar), Patrick Whelan (electric guitar, ukelele), Sean Whelan (cello), and Brandon Burgess (drums). Amanda is very proud of this band; they successfully communicated the heart of each song on this album. Each of these guys are incredibly talented musicians, and great to work with.
Amanda & Myron Johnson are currently living in Calgary, Alberta. If you are interested in being updated on any shows that are coming up, or if you are interested in booking Amanda Johnson please go to the Contact tab.
